Carbon

We turn forest growth into climate finance. GrowGrounds develops
Gold Standard certified carbon projects, linking agroforestry impacts directly to the carbon market. With 80% of carbon revenues flowing back to farmers and communities, we ensure climate action is not only credible but equitable.

Turning agroforestry conversion into measurable climate impact

GrowGrounds develops Gold Standard-certified Carbon Removal Units (CRUs) that transform degraded coffee landscapes into thriving, biodiverse agroforestry systems — creating verifiable, nature-based climate impact directly linked to coffee value chains.

Our approach is fully aligned with the European Coffee Federation's (ECF) Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology, enabling roasters and brands to integrate high-quality land-use and carbon-sequestration data into their climate reporting and ESG strategies. By connecting field-level impact to Scope 3 accounting, CSRD disclosure, and SBTi targets, we help companies move from footprint calculation to real, reportable reductions. A proprietary digital platform tracks every step — from GPS-verified planting and canopy growth to soil carbon dynamics and water retention — ensuring full traceability and compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

And because 80 % of all carbon revenue flows directly back to farmers and communities, GrowGrounds turns climate finance into a powerful engine for local prosperity, ecosystem restoration, and long-term coffee resilience.

High-integrity nature-based solutions (NBS) carbon credits

Science-based, traceable, and deeply rooted in nature

GrowGrounds delivers nature-based Carbon Removal Units (CRUs) verified by Gold Standard and aligned with the EU Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. Our syntropic agroforestry systems capture and store atmospheric CO₂ for more than 25 years while restoring biodiversity, improving soil health, and regulating water cycles.

Each hectare converted from monoculture to syntropic agroforestry captures several tons of CO₂ annually, contributing directly to corporate decarbonization goals and national climate commitments. All credits are backed by blockchain-secured MRV systems, preventing double counting and ensuring full traceability from tree to tonne.

This is not just carbon offsetting — it is carbon insetting, where companies invest directly in transforming their own value chains. Premium credits can also include added impact layers, such as refugee resilience, food security, or biodiversity restoration.

Revenue for farmers

Carbon finance as a new income stream

Our farmer-first model ensures that the majority of carbon finance benefits those who make climate action possible. By supporting the transition from monoculture coffee to biodiverse syntropic agroforestry, farmers gain access to a completely new revenue stream based on verified carbon sequestration.

At the same time, integrating a diversity of high-value plants and tree species — such as macadamia, avocado, and other shade and food crops — opens additional income opportunities and builds resilience against volatile coffee prices. Together, these changes hold potential to increase smallholder incomes by up to 90%, while creating stronger, more climate-resilient farming systems.

Because 80% of all carbon revenue flows directly back to farmers, the incentives remain aligned for decades, ensuring long-term maintenance of tree cover, enhanced livelihoods, and continuous climate action. GrowGrounds retains 20% to fund continuous monitoring, certification, and scaling — ensuring both impact integrity and business sustainability.

For buyers and partners

Meet targets with science-based, report-ready data

Partnering with GrowGrounds means more than buying carbon credits — it means co-creating a regenerative future for coffee and climate. Our projects combine verifiable climate impact with supply-chain resilience, enabling companies to:

Meet ESG, CSRD, and SBTi targets with science-based, report-ready data

Integrate land-use change and carbon sequestration metrics directly into climate accounting in line with the European Coffee Federation (ECF) Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology

Secure EUDR-compliant supply chains by linking farm-level land-use data with traceable carbon and biodiversity outcomes

Deliver tangible biodiversity, livelihood, and climate co-benefits — from reforestation and soil restoration to income growth and food security

Communicate credible, transparent impact to customers, investors, and stakeholders

By embedding GrowGrounds' high-integrity Carbon Reduction Units (CRUs) into your value chain, you move beyond offsetting to insetting — directly decarbonizing your own supply chain while supporting the farmers and ecosystems it depends on.
